The Lotus Flower

The Lotus Flower

The Lotus Flower is a women-led, non-governmental organization founded in response to the humanitarian crisis in Kurdistan, northern Iraq in 2014. We support vulnerable women and girl conflict survivors so that they are safe and have the tools and opportunities they need to heal, learn and grow. Our fundamental belief is that women and girls are powerful drivers of change, and we strive for a world where they are free from violence, able to access education and empowered to participate in their communities to drive social and economic change from within.

Through four key pillars—Health & Safety, Education & Livelihoods, Peacebuilding & Human Rights, and Climate Change—The Lotus Flower delivers holistic, community-responsive programs in refugee and internally displaced person (IDP) camps. From mental health support and vocational training to health and fitness programs, women-led climate action, and peacebuilding initiatives, we provide women and girls affected by conflict with the strength and support they need to reach their full potential and rebuild their futures.
